MN25GAIN® Technology

Mn25GAIN® is a patented hydrometallurgical technology developed by Técnicas Reunidas for the recovery of manganese from complex and unconventional raw materials.

This technology is specifically designed to process secondary materials, low-grade resources, and impurity-rich streams, enabling the production of high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) suitable for batteries with high efficiency and reliability.

With manganese recovery rates exceeding 95%, Mn25GAIN® enables the extraction of value from difficult-to-process raw materials that are generally unsuitable for conventional processing routes.

Process overview:

Selective precipitation
  • Manganese is selectively precipitated from the initial solution in the form of high-purity manganese dioxide (MnO₂), which allows for effective separation of impurities.
  • The MnO₂ is redissolved to produce a high-concentration, high-purity manganese sulfate solution suitable for further applications.
  • The solution is further refined to meet strict quality requirements, including battery-grade specifications for HPMSM.
  • Final production of high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) as a commercial product.
    An alternative process route allows for integration with electrowinning circuits (e.g., ZINCEX®) when necessary.
