Development Division Proprietary Technologies

Técnicas Reunidas (TR) is a leading international company in the engineering and construction of industrial plants that develops and markets, through its In-House Technology Development Division (DDTP), technologies in the sectors of metals, critical raw materials, the environment (waste and water), and chemical processes.

The DDTP provides engineering services, technology licensing, technical assistance, and the supply of proprietary equipment for industrial plants based on its own technologies.

The Division researches and develops new technologies to enter new markets and to differentiate itself from its competitors in the markets where it operates.

Industrial plants

More than 10 industrial plants built using DDTP technology are located in the United States, Japan, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Namibia. Among DDTP’s most important customers are some of the leading players in the zinc production market.

Experts in hydrometallurgy and solvent extraction

DDTP has a highly qualified team specializing in hydrometallurgical processes at its Technology Center, which enables TR to participate in international R&D projects that add value to its processes.

DDTP has developed innovative hydrometallurgical processes licensed by TR to produce ultra-pure metals with high added value. It also possesses technologies aimed at producing critical raw materials (rare earth elements, P, Li, Ni, Co, Mn, Cu, Co, and Si, among others) and develops technologies for the Green Transition, including green hydrogen production, CO₂ capture and utilization, and the circular economy.
The technologies licensed from TR have three objectives:
1. Flexibility.
2. Value-added products.
3. Environmental and economic efficiency.

Our expertise in hydrometallurgy is complemented by the research and advancements developed at the José Lladó Technology Center. TR provides technical expertise, turnkey solutions, and the ability to transform ideas into viable industrial solutions.

José Lladó Technology Center R&D&I

The DDTP has a highly qualified, multidisciplinary technical and scientific team that carries out its work at the José Lladó Technology Center. This center, spanning more than 5,000 m², features industrial and analytical laboratories, pilot plant facilities, and a mechanical workshop, all equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and software.
